Studio Reveal

The much sought after photos of my new 'studio.' I am in love with the colours. I find myself just sitting in the room, not doing anything. Sitting with a grateful heart. I have a lot of space to create and I'm thankful for that; not everyone has that luxury. I have colour on the walls and that makes me really, really happy. I have an oval mirror. AND, I just love chocolate brown.

I have a weird fascination with globes and maps and atlases and have since I was little. Love them and have been contemplating for a long, long time, putting up a huge wall world map so that I can then track our travels. My friend Katy has this and it is amazing. She has a certain colour pin, her husband does, too, and the kids each have one. Fascinating. So here's my $2.00 antique find from a few weekends ago. And I'm super crazy about this blue glass. It just makes me happy. {Unexplainable.} And, I love this little picture of my kids. Julie took it last summer and it's still one of my faves of them. They're actually getting along in the picture. Not a daily reality. My mom made this for me years ago {maybe when I was in college?}. I love it and I've decided that my studio is my room to display things that make me happy. And my mom does just that. She's so talented and creative. She inspires me.

I have this thing for chipped and banged up stuff. I love that look. This stool. Love it. And this pail - fell in love with it the second Melissa showed it to me back in March. I bought it having no idea what I would do with it, but again, going with the "this makes me really, really happy" and it's really, really cheap, so I'm gonna go for it. And now, it sits in my studio waiting for the perfect things to hold. Oh, and let's talk about stools for a minute. I LOVE STOOLS. I have a very tall red one. I have a short white one. Again, they take me to that happy place. {Unexplainable.} See the three pottery pieces? Melissa {she really must get a blog so I can link to her site.} gave me these because she felt like they'd be perfect in my room. AND THEY ARE.

And this cabinet below. Oh mercy. I cried when I saw it - no joke. A friend gave it to me because she felt it would go just perfectly in my room, AND IT DOES. I mean, PERFECT. It is absolutely beautiful and I love it. I still have to figure out the stuff on the inside and how to 'group' it, but Melissa is going to come help with that, the extraordinary decorator that she is. In the meantime, I just think it is perfect. In every way. {Oh, and disregard the messy closet in the background - that's next on my list to tackle. A girl can only do so much.}
And that, my friends, is my new happy place. And while Jack really has no understanding of the nicky-nacks as he most affectionately calls them, I'm sure all you out in blog-land can see why I just can hardly tear myself away from this room!
